02 / The idea

A musical practice.

Most properties treat music as the last problem to solve. A playlist service, a booking agency, a DJ who plays whatever the guests seem to want. The result is an atmosphere that could belong to any property in the world. Interchangeable.

Blacksoil is a musical practice inspired by nature, ocean, island life, spirituality, cosmic rhythm, and simple beauty, and built across two decades of work in hospitality, nightlife, and design.

Musical journeys made for environments where people come to slow down, not speed up. To find center, not distraction.

Timeless and forward. Ancient and electronic. Organic and digital. Grounded and elemental, but contemporary.

These are the materials I create with, painting the textures and colors of sound to build atmospheres that resonate and performances that move. Carrying a space from morning ambience into a cinematic sunset and finally the sensuality of night without ever losing character, moving from contemplation to celebration without demanding the room to become something it isn't.

04 / The artistic point of view

I don't throw parties.
I create atmospheres.

Music should not compete with a place. It should reveal something about it, and make it felt deeper.

That's the whole philosophy. Start with what the space already is, and the environment that it exists within. Use sound to make more of it visible. Not louder, but clearer and stronger.

You didn't travel to a remote tropical island to hear sounds from a city you left behind.

You came to immerse in timeless natural beauty, explore new worlds & connect with the inner self. Blacksoil asks a simple question: what is the soundtrack for exactly that experience?

Philosophy
05 / Music as environment

Music changes the way people experience a space.

The same restaurant can feel like a place to eat, or an intimate, sensual space for connection.

The same pool can feel like a way to cool off on a hot day, or a means to experience weightlessness and deep relaxation.

The same sunset can be something people simply observe while sipping a cocktail, or inspire gratefulness that opens the heart and heals the soul.

Blacksoil treats sound as part of that architecture. Music is selected not simply for genre, but for:

  • texture
  • time of day
  • density
  • light
  • space
  • movement
  • tempo
  • human energy
  • volume

The right sound changes the way a space and a brand is perceived. Yet most people never notice why.

The intention is atmosphere over immediacy.
Emotional depth over volume.

A musical language that communicates taste, discernment, and confidence without needing to announce itself.

The Blacksoil Guest

The Blacksoil guest is not defined by age. They are defined by taste.

They notice the architecture. The sound. The light. The materials. The food. The people. The difference between something considered and something merely expensive.

They travel internationally. They may want nightlife without wanting a club. They value experience over spectacle.

Three real shifts are converging right now. The global wellness economy has grown to $6.8 trillion, up 7.9% year-over-year. Three in five young adults now report that they rarely drink alcohol or not at all. And electronic music and DJ culture has grown into a $15 billion global industry, and still climbing.

Blacksoil sits exactly where those three lines cross.

Taste, not spectacle
08

Music as Medicine

A sound healer works with bowls, tuning forks and breath. I work with records, tempo, frequency and time. The instrument is different. The intention is identical.

Blacksoil emerged with a clear purpose: to share music as medicine. To heal, to uplift, to create something of simple beauty. Not as a metaphor, but as a deliberate practice, aligned with the spirit of the island it came from. To help people return to what already exists within them, and find what may have been misplaced in the material world.

Sets are built to move a person from constricted states of tension into cathartic emotional release, over hours instead of minutes, through pacing, texture and restraint rather than volume. The same set can move a body and settle a mind, energizing and meditative at once. Most people don't consciously notice it happening until it already has.

This is why Blacksoil is at home in nature-forward and wellness-conscious properties, because it shares their operating principle: intention applied across every hour and every space that aligns environment to mind, body & soul.

The Art of Ceremony

I lost interest in DJing long ago. The craft itself, the tracks, the events, the venues and the hype around it all, only distracts from why it was powerful to me in the first place.

I approach the booth as an instrument for a greater purpose. What I offer inside a performance is a few hours engineered to pull a person back to their center, and away from everything a modern life demands of their attention. A mind quiet enough to hear the soul. A heart open enough to feel the love of life once more. This is the art of ceremony, without ever using those words.

I stopped playing for people and started playing for the universe. That's how I arrived here again.

A Soundtrack for Siquijor

inspired by the healing island

Siquijor Island is shaped by ocean, jungle, stillness and a long history of spiritual practice. A genuinely beautiful land that remains largely separated from the modern world in the Philippines.

There are no shopping malls or billboards. No conventional nightlife culture. The landscape remains largely unruined. The traditional ways of life remain visible. There is simply less competing for your attention.

Living here changes your relationship with time. With silence, with nature, and with yourself.

Eventually, it changes your priorities & your purpose too.

11 / A new language · New York → Siquijor

A new environment, a new language.

I wasn't interested in bringing New York to the Philippines. That identity belonged to another chapter, and was built for a different kind of room.

Instead, I embodied the world around me: endless ocean, whispering palms, volcanic rock sculptures, searing skies painted with pastels, timeless bamboo structures scattered along winding roads that lead into mountains...

That translated into six-hour sunset sessions built from natural textures, crystalline melodies, and dopamine-inducing sub-bass that unravels across hours, not minutes. Atmospheres built to stay inside, developing patience and presence.

Sound frequencies and repetition become tools for ceremony and dance, to quiet the thinking mind long enough to access the subconscious one beneath it.

Blacksoil

A name for something grounded and elemental, yet forward and electronic. Organic. Deep. Elegant. Earthy. Atmospheric. Warm. Spacious.

Blacksoil isn't designed to compete with nature. It's designed to complement & co-create with it. It is not a world staged for visitors. It is a response to and expression of a way of life that simply doesn't exist in a city.

An intentional practice in patience and presence, guiding people toward nature and toward themselves through music.

13 / The artist behind Blacksoil

New York taught me how a room works.

I started DJing in 1998 as an art & design student at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NYC. By 2008 I was building and performing my own events, and for the next fifteen years, my work never separated cleanly into design or music. I was doing both at once, usually in the same night: building the identity, choosing what it looked like, choosing what it sounded like, watching how people vibrated with it, adjusting in real time.

You learn something from that combination you can't learn from either discipline alone. A designer can make a room look beautiful. A DJ can make a room move. Doing both, simultaneously, for years, teaches you to pay attention to what happens between the two.

  • How light changes the music.
  • How volume changes behavior.
  • How architecture changes sound.
  • How a space can invite people in, or push them away.
  • How the right record can make an entire evening worth remembering.
  • How the wrong one can break a person's whole perception of a brand.

Atmosphere is not one element. It's the relationship between space, sound, light, movement, people and time.

That instinct is the foundation of Blacksoil, the architect of atmosphere, across a room, a day, a place.

Role

Resident DJ / Creative & Music Director / Designer / Cultural Curator

Work spanning international talent booking, nightlife production, hospitality environments, event design, and brand identity. The full stack of what makes a space feel intentional rather than decorated.

Work by HU+NA creatives
15 / HU+NAHU+NA

HU+NA: Building cultural relevance from scratch.

The same discernment that sculpted sound & experience inside major New York properties is now building a creative ecosystem in Siquijor where there previously wasn't one at all.

HU+NA (human + nature) is Kelle's creative platform for conscious music, art, and wellness, built specifically for the island and everyone drawn to it.

Two weekly programs have become genuine cultural fixtures on Siquijor, bringing together local artists, regional and international DJs and wellness practitioners to collaborate within intentional weekly events.

A platform built for the island and for its visitors to gather inside.

The same process that builds this for an entire island works exactly the same way inside a single space: culture, not entertainment.

The New Hospitality

A small number of destinations have become meccas, not for one amenity, but for a whole point of view.

Design. Architecture. Electronic music culture. Contemporary art. Wellness and intentionality. Real hospitality craft. When a destination combines these, genuinely and not as marketing, people don't just visit. They plan trips specifically for it, and they come back.

This is the category Blacksoil is built for. Not conventional nightlife venues. Nature-forward, design-led properties where atmosphere is part of the guest experience, not something applied on top of it.

  • Design-led
  • Nature-forward
  • Wellness-rooted
  • Sound-driven
  • Culturally intentional
17Scope scales to the property

Three Ways to Work Together

Option 01

DJ Residency

A consistent musical presence that becomes part of the property's regular guest experience. A recognizable musical ritual guests can return to.

  • Daily or recurring DJ sessions
  • Pool, beach, sunset & evening programming
  • Consistent Blacksoil sound & atmosphere
  • Music programmed around the property's environment
Option 02

Music Direction

A coherent musical identity the property can become known for. Develop and oversee the property's music program, from what plays in the background to who performs at key moments.

  • Sonic identity & musical strategy
  • Daily playlists for space & time
  • DJ programming & resident strategy
  • Regional & international DJ bookings
  • Event music programming
  • Cultural & musical collaborations
  • Sound-system & technical consultation
Option 03

Full Creative Direction

Music, brand, content, culture and experience brought into one coherent creative direction. A unified creative identity, not a collection of disconnected activities.

  • Creative & brand direction
  • Music direction
  • Photography & video direction
  • Content & social direction
  • Event & experience concepts
  • Regional & international artist curation
  • Cultural programming & collaborations
  • Creative team & collaborator curation

The right situation may extend far beyond music. The full creative scope is intentionally flexible.

Some properties need a resident artist. Others need someone to establish the musical identity of an entire destination. The opportunity is to build the role around what the property is actually trying to become.

18 / Alignment

alignment is everything

Blacksoil is a natural fit in places where nature matters, design matters, music matters, wellness matters, culture matters, details matter.

  • PlaceWhere nature is not decoration, but part of the experience. Ocean, jungle, earth, stone and open sky.
  • SpiritA sense of stillness, mystery and depth, where spirituality exists naturally rather than being packaged as a product.
  • SoundWhere music can be felt rather than simply heard, and contemplation and movement exist inside the same experience.
  • TasteLuxury expressed through restraint rather than spectacle. Remembered for how it feels, not for what amenities it has.

Blacksoil belongs where nature, spirit, sound and human experience meet as one.
